This episode is a special one — my birthday edition. As I turned 47, I found myself reflecting on what it really means to celebrate. For years, my birthdays were about doing something fun in the outer world — snowboarding, traveling, being in nature. But this year, I chose to go deeper.

Instead of only celebrating what I do, I celebrated who I’ve become.

In this episode, I share a powerful exercise that moved me more than I expected: I asked eight close friends to reflect back the qualities they see in me. What came back wasn’t just kind words — it was a mirror that helped me embody my growth, strengthen my identity, and feel the love and connection I’ve built over the past few years.

If you’ve been doing deep inner work but rarely pause to acknowledge how far you’ve come, this episode is an invitation to slow down, receive, and celebrate yourself from the inside out.

What I Talk About in This Episode
• Why celebration often stays external — and how to shift toward inner celebration
• The difference between activity-based celebration and identity-based celebration
• How loneliness can be the catalyst for building a new, chosen tribe
• Why asking for reflection from others can strengthen your self-trust
• The healing power of being truly seen and letting appreciation land in your body
• How mirrors from others help solidify identity beyond intellectual understanding

Key Takeaways
• You don’t have to wait for a milestone to celebrate yourself — you can do it now
• The right people can come into your life later; tribe-building doesn’t expire with age
• High achievers often underestimate their impact on others
• Identity becomes stronger when you allow positive reflections to land emotionally, not just cognitively
• Celebration isn’t indulgent — it’s a way to anchor growth and reinforce who you are becoming

Reflection Practice for You
Try this simple exercise this week:

Ask 3–5 people you trust:
“What are the top two or three qualities you see in me?”

Listen with openness. Ask follow-up questions.
Then allow their words to land — not just in your mind, but in your body.

Notice what it feels like to truly receive appreciation.
